Why switch to Fibre?
Capable
Limitless possibilities, you can connect multiple devices and use them all online at once.
Dependable
Fibre optic cables don’t generate electricity because they are made of glass. This means that the chance of interference on your connection is reduced.
Fast
Stream, scroll, search and shop at super speeds. You choose the speed that is right for you.
What you need to know.
• If you currently have Fibre installed at your property with an alternate service provider you can join Amplio by signing up online.
• If you do not have Fibre already at your property then you will require a Fibre Installation. You will need to check if Fibre is available at your address via our address checker. Then you can order your plan by signing up with us online.
There are several steps to the Fibre installation process. When you have signed up for Fibre, we will transfer your order to Chorus (the local Fibre company for the Auckland region). They will liaise your Fibre installation. Please note, a Fibre installation can take a few weeks or more. Timing may vary due to various circumstances.
If you are a tenant in a rental property you will need your landlord’s consent to install Fibre. It is crucial that you gain landlord consent before your initial scope appointment. If you do not gain consent your Fibre order may be postponed or terminated.
During your scope appointment a technician will plan your Fibre install with you. At the end of this appointment you will need to sign an agreement. Tenants will need to ask their landlords permission before signing. Amplio will courier a modem to you before your installation date and Chorus will supply the other equipment.
After your scope appointment and an agreement is signed, a technician will connect the Fibre cable from the street to your premises.
Once the outside work is complete, your internal installation will take place. In some circumstances this can occur on the same day, however in other instances it will be booked for a later date. You are required to be present for this appointment. The internal installation can take between four and six hours, we ask that you make yourself available for the entire day.
• If you have a monitored alarm (medical or security) at your home that runs via your phone line you will need to upgrade your alarm to a version that is compatible with Fibre. The majority of alarm providers supply monitoring solutions designed for Fibre. It is crucial that you organize this with your alarm provider.
• Fibre Broadband and phone lines require mains power in order to operate. This means that if a power outage occurs your broadband and phone line services (including emergency services) will be inaccessible.
We suggest having a mobile phone that is fully charged on hand at all times. We highly recommend using a UPS (uninterrupted power supply) which will keep both your Fibre Broadband and phone line services operating during a power outage.
